Terms and Conditions

1. Application

These general terms and conditions apply to all registrations for both group French courses and Private French lessons, booked by students with SpeakFrench-online.com, and are applicable from the moment that the student registers (through the website, by e-mail, by phone or face to face) for one or more courses or lessons.

2. Courses

2.1 All our courses take place online in a virtual classroom. The student will receive details for participation before the course starts.

2.2 If the student is still not certain of its level, they can contact Speak French Online to find out which level is most suitable. Registering for a level is always at the student’s own risk. If it turns out during the course that the chosen level is either too easy or too difficult, it is not possible to change the registration, only for exceptionnal cases with a written email agreement of Speaking French Online.

2.3 In case a student misses one or more classes, this is at their own risk. Speak French Online will not give a refund of the lesson fee.

3. Payment

3.1 The payment of the courses takes place via the website (www.speakfrench-online.com), or by bank transfer. In both cases, the enrollment is definite from the moment of payment.

3.2 The standard fee to participate in a group course is €189 per level. The standard fee for private classes is €55 per hour.

4. Cancellation by the student

4.1 In case the student registers for a course 8 days or more prior to the starting date of the course, he/she can withdraw until 7 days prior to the starting date of the course. If a student in this period decides to withdraw, he/she shall notify Speak French by e-mail or in writing. In that case, the student can receive a complete refund of the course fee. When there are 0 to 7 days prior to the starting date of the course, it is no longer possible to cancel the registration. 

4.2 In case the student registers for a course 0 to 7 days prior to the starting date of the course, they waive their right to cancel their registration.

4.3 For training courses not being intensive group course with open registration such as the private lessons or short modules, the dates are determined in consultation with the student and Speak French Online. These dates are recorded in writing, email or written document, when the training is confirmed.

4.4 Upon payment, the private lessons must be taken and reserved within the time frame indicated on the written agreement.

4.5 Cancellation of a private lesson must occur 24 hours before the time scheduled for the lesson. If the cancellation occurs less than 24 hours before the agreed date and time, the lesson is deducted from the total number of hours reserved by the student.

4.6 Early termination or if the student no longer participates in any course or private lesson from Speak French Online does not entitle to any refund.

5. Cancellation by Speak French Online

5.1 If the teacher of the course is not able to teach due to unforeseen circumstances, and there is no substitute teacher available, the cancelled class or classes will be rescheduled in consultation with the group. If the student has substantial reasons for not being able to attend on the new date, he/she will receive a refund of the missed class or classes.

6. Changing of registration to another course

6.1 When a student has registered for a course, but is unable to join the course in the week that they have signed up for, it is possible to change the registration to a course of the same level that is taking place in another week, provided: i) there is still a spot available in the week of the student’s choice; ii) the student has informed the school in writing or per e-mail at least 7 days prior to the starting date of the course that he/she will not be able to attend; iii) the student has not changed this registration before; iv) the student has paid the normal lesson fee of €189 for the course.

6.2 It is possible for the student to transfer their registration to someone else, provided that the student sends an e-mail to info@speakfrench-online.com at least 3 days before the starting date of the course, mentioning the details of the new student in a registration form.

Note: Speak French Online can never play a role in finding someone to take over the place of the student, or in transferring the payment to the new student. 

7.  Waiting list

7.1 When the course of the student’s liking is full, the student can ask Speak French Online to be put on the waiting list for this course. When a registered student of this particular course cancels their registration, the open spot will be offered to the first student on the waiting list. They then have 48 hours to accept or decline the spot. If the spot is declined, or if Speak French Online does not receive the student’s reply within 48 hours, the spot will be offered to the next person on the waiting list.

7.2 No rights can be derived from being on the waiting list.

8. Privacy

8.1. Speak French Online will solely use the student’s details for the following purposes: i) processing enrollment; ii) sending relevant information to the student; iii) sending special offers that may be of interest to the student.

8.2 Speak French Online will never share the student’s personal information with a third party.

8.3 Speak French Online may create photo and video footage during classes and other activities that are initiated by Speak French Online. This footage might be used for promotional purposes. If the student does not agree with this, he/she can communicate this before the beginning of the course or activity. 

9. Liability 

9.1 If the student is younger than 18 years old, he/she shall hand over a written statement, signed by his/her adult caregiver, in which the caregiver gives permission to the student to participate in the course, and declares to take on full responsibility and liability for the student.  

9.2 Speak French Online shall not be liable for loss of or any damage to the student’s personal belongings.

9.3 It is the student’s own responsibility to choose the course that is suitable for the student’s intended result (see 2.2), as well as it is the student’s own responsibility to invest the time needed to achieve the intended results. Speak French Online will not be held accountable for not achieving any intended results.

10. Royalty

10.1 Speak French Online expressly reserves the copyrights of the materials made available to the student. No part of the publication (s) may be reproduced, stored in an automated database or made public in any form or by any means, whether electronic, mechanical, by photocopying, recording or in any other way without the prior consent of Speaking French Online. It is not permitted to make the study material available to third parties. 

11. Applicable law

This agreement and its implementation are exclusively governed by Dutch law.
